A Brief Update on The Book!

A large tree, perhaps under-water, with sun beams penetrating the spaces and, as if in some sort of dream, many books, open and fluttering, cascade around the tree as well.

Hello!

An update on the book.  As of now, the working title is, “On Becoming… An Exploration of Existence and Person-Centered Paradigm-Shifts in the Time of COVID.”

I’ve self-published Chapters 1, 2, and 3.

The fourth chapter of the book shifts to a longer view of the full framework I’ve been building and revising across the past 5 years, and even then, that framework is the living, breathing, changing foundation, forged across my lifetime, of how I intend to interact and exert influence in the world.  The fifth chapter will expand IRSE (Impact-Regarding, Social-Emotional) pedagogy (Chapter 3) to elaborate PAINT endeavors (i.e., person-centered, actively processing, impact regarding, neurodiversity- and neuroqueer-affirming, trauma-informed) and the application of an impact centered interpersonal influence support framework (ICIISF) to humans across their lifespan.  Chapter 3, while broadly applicable, focused on preschool and early elementary children with the included case studies.  Chapter 5 will both expand the application of techniques to adults and illuminate resources, training, research, and experience I’ve gained since having initially written the first three chapters between 2020 and 2022.

Readers will recall, from Chapter 1, that my life changed on December 13, 2020, when my Mom died from COVID.  In 2022, after a full-scale administrative turnover, I lost a position I’d built and expanded for 18 years.  The word “devastated” would not be hyperbole.  However?  I eventually landed in a role as an educational and employment coach for autistic, neurodivergent, and disabled folks, which permitted me to continue practicing my eclectic manner of counseling, coaching, mentoring, advising, and advocating.  Chapter 5 will illuminate and integrate the professional and personal development I’ve experienced of the past 2-3 years.  I appreciate you being along for the ride, and considering the possibility of humane, just, diverse, equitable, inclusive, and affirming praxis in the midst of a mainstream zeitgeist of ubiquitous fascism.

Love yinz.
